How It Works

The Expansion Signal Monitor watches your existing customer accounts across product usage data, support interactions, and business growth signals. When an account shows patterns that historically correlate with expansion, such as high usage of one product and low usage of an adjacent one, company growth signals, or renewal approaching without upgrade discussions, the system surfaces the opportunity with full context to an account manager for follow-up.

Step-by-Step Flow

1

Connect your product usage data, CRM, and support tools

2

Define expansion signals based on your product and customer history

3

AI monitors all accounts continuously against defined signals

4

Expansion-ready accounts surface to account manager with specific reasoning

5

Rep reviews context and reaches out to initiate the conversation

6

Outcome logged to improve signal accuracy over time

Best For

  • SaaS and service companies with natural upsell paths between products or tiers
  • Account management teams managing 15+ accounts each
  • Companies where expansion revenue is significant but underworked

This is customized for your business.

Every node, tool, and logic path shown here gets adapted to your team structure, your CRM, and your existing workflows. What you see is the proven pattern. What we build together is built specifically for you.

Implementation Notes

Product usage data is pulled via API from your application database or analytics platform (Mixpanel, Amplitude, Segment, or direct SQL query). CRM data provides contract value, tier, renewal date, and relationship notes. Support ticket data surfaces friction signals: frequent questions about a feature the customer does not currently use often indicate readiness. Business growth signals come from the same sources as the Intelligence Loop: LinkedIn, Crunchbase, and job posting monitoring. Signal rules are configured as condition trees: for example, trigger when an account is in the Growth tier and their usage of Feature A is above the 75th percentile for their tier but Feature B usage is below the 25th percentile, and renewal is within 90 days. When an expansion signal fires, the account manager receives a Slack message with: the account name, which signals fired, plain-language reasoning about why this suggests expansion readiness, and a suggested conversation opener. The rep logs the outcome in the CRM which feeds back into signal calibration. Integrates natively with HubSpot, Salesforce, and Gainsight. Prerequisites: at least six months of product usage data and a defined upsell path with pricing.
